          PAUL’S MACEDONIA/BERIA/PELLA
          Pella -
Founded at the beginning of the 4th century B.C. as the new capital of Macedonia
where Alexander the Great was born and educated. Excavations have revealed large,
well-built houses with colonnaded courts and rooms with mosaic floors portraying such
scenes as a lion hunt and Dionysus riding a panther. In February 2006, a farmer
accidentally uncovered the largest tomb ever found in Greece. Overall,
archaeologists have uncovered 1,000 tombs at Pella since 2000, but these only
represent an estimated 5% of those at the site

                                                                          PELLA

          Beria -
The town was first populated settled 1000 years ago. Here, Paul, Silas, and Timothy
arrived, after fleeing from Thessalonica and taught in the Synagogue. Later, Silas, and
Timothy remained but Paul was escorted to Athens.
See the Church of St. Paul, the Ancient Synagogue, and walk part of the old Roman
